Question #252
Are the days in Genesis 1 literal 24 hour days?
A friend from work and I had a discussion on Genesis and creation, and if God created the earth literally in 7 days. He felt that God’s “day” may not literally be 24 hours to create and therefore dinosaurs could have been on the earth for millions of years. I expressed that if Paul went somewhere “the next day” how can that phrase be defined any differently than “on the second day God created…” How can I prove to him that the earth was created literally in seven days, and that dinosaurs were created along with man on the 6th day? And why does everyone want to say it just up to our own interpretation?
The Answer:
The Christian Courier and Apologetics Press each have excellent articles on this topic.
