Question #326
Please tell me about your church service.
I am currently looking at designing a new worship space, what I would call a new Sanctuary, for a Christ of Christ. As an architect, who is also an Episcopalian although raised in the Methodist Church, it is important for me to understand the Liturgy or might I say the church service in the type church we are designing for. Of course we ultimately tailor our design specifically to our client but it is good for me to educate myself to the history and beliefs of their denomination. Can you give me some guidance on the church service typically found in the Church of Christ?
The Answer:
The most material in one place may be found at “Class:Questions,” Lesson 7 which deals with worship and the assembly according to scripture. If you will go to “Search the Site” and search on “worship” you will get 20 pages of “hits.” Some of these will deal with the worship of the church. Others, of course, will deal with old testament worship, idol worship, and unscriptural worship in both Old and New Testaments.
