Question #191
What about “children’s” church?
Great site!!! Do you have any articles on “children’s” church? Unfortunately, this is a big problem in the church today. Would appreciate your help.
The Answer:
Thanks for the encouragement. As for “children’s church,” I don’t believe we have anything on that issue at present, but if you have a specific question we would be glad to address it here. Generally, “children’s church” is a matter of opinion to be determined by the eldership, and in my opinion is appropriate for very young children who cannot understand what is happening in the worship service and who otherwise might disturb those engaged in worship. But, I think beyond that very young age, children should attend the regular worship service and should do so quietly. I have visited congregations where children’s church went all the way through 5th grade, and I believe that is completely wrong. I, for example, was baptized during the summer following the 5th grade, and I know others who were baptized even earlier.
