Question #54
Why don’t you quit making a big deal out of everything?
Quit making a big deal out of everything. You have your opinion and we have ours.
The Answer:
This is not so much a question as it is a criticism. The Critic misses the point of the whole exercise. This website is not known as “My Opinion Is Truth,” but as “Thy Word Is Truth.” The truth is that neither my opinion nor your opinion is of any value except to the extent they are in harmony with the word of God.
Most likely, the critic has found some teaching on this website with which he disagrees. If we have erred from the teaching of scripture, the critic is duty bound to point out each and every such departure. If we have taught the truth as it is in God’s word, then he is duty bound to accept it and follow it, not because we have taught it, but because it is God’s word. Jesus did not say, “And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and follow not your own opinion.” Luke 6:46. Neither did he say, “Not everyone who saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth according to his own opinion.” Matthew 7:21.
Read on in Matthew 7. Those folks had their opinion, too. In fact, they were arguing with Christ about his judgment based on their prophecies and their mighty works. Unfortunately, they had not done the will of the Father.
See the response to Question 55. Can’t you just hear Uzzah in judgment saying, “God, why do you make such a big deal out of everything. You have your opinion and I have mine.”
