Question #388
What is the difference between a miracle and an answered prayer?
Please explain the difference in a “miracle” and an “Answered Prayer.” Have miracles ceased as I’ve been taught? It seems I hear every day about a miracle of some kind.
The Answer:
Please see Miracles or Magic. Also review Question 36.
There are no miracles today, but God’s providence is still active. Many things are called miracles today but they do not meet the qualifications of Biblical miracles. Many of them are absolute frauds, the worst of which are television evangelists who always have two messages – 1) you can be healed, and 2) you need to send a seed offering. The health and wealth gospel, as it is called, is no more than the “snake oil” sold in the old west (and even today in some cases).
