Public Domain Song Book Project

Many wonderful songs that we sing have entered the public domain and thus may be freely reproduced and distributed. The purpose of this project is to collect these songs and make them available for free on the Internet.

Each song will be typeset using the commercial program Sibelius and then published on this web page in Adobe Acrobat format and in the Sibelius Scorch format. While the latter format requires a special (free) plug-in for your Internet browser, it permits one to hear the melody of the song as well as transpose and/or print the song.

Although the conversion of all of these songs will be a slow process, we hope that the end result will be a helpful and useful Internet resource for the church.

To download the free Adobe Acrobat reader, click here. To download and install the free Sibelius Scorch plug-in, click here. To purchase your own copy of Sibelius so that you can edit the songs, click here.

We currently have a list of nearly 100 songs that will eventually be available on this page. Suggestions for additional songs are welcome.
